Should you #borrow money for adoption during a #pandemic? I received a message from WalletHub this morning talking about the States that have the greatest search histories for loans right now.

Crazy! #desperation can lead you down a path you don't want to go down.

Right now is not the time to borrow money because we don't know what the future will hold. With over 20 million filing for #unemployment, it's imperative to stay away from #debt, without employment, that could be stressful.

BUT, No one wants to put their goal of having a family on hold, so we've got a few steps to help you reach your #goal without #borrowing the money for adoption/fertility.

1. Open up a savings account and name it specifically Baby Jones 2020
2. Determine your adoption/fertility budget
3. Apply for #grants
4. Create a #fundraiser
5. Start a side business/side hustle
6. Track your money

In our Preparing Financially for Adoption #course we guide you through these 6 steps, so you don't have to forge a new path. We know that money can be a stumbling block, but we want to help you have a system to follow.

During this course you will be able to develop a successful Money Date, create a spending plan to help you plug leaks in personal spending, plan an #adoptionbudget, write a successful grant, develop and run a fundraiser, know what questions to ask your #CPA about adoption, organize your financial documents, prepare financially for the #homestudy, develop a plan for after the kids, understand borrowing money, discover money saving tips for travel for #ICPC, and staying #organized with your finances during your entire adoption process.

As I’ve gotten older, I’ve realized that I can harness other people’s organizational skills and utilize them to ease the stress that chaos causes in my life. I once traded services with a friend to help me get my laundry room organized. She was amazing!

So, when we started the adoption process and then fostering to adopt, the paperwork was killing me. We got paperwork for the homestudy, the attorney, DCS, fostercare classes, court visits, and doctor’s visits. I wanted to be organized, but there wasn’t a specific place for me to put all of the documents.

The Solution To My Problem: The Family Emergency Binder.

Check out what information can be stored in The Family Emergency Binder:

I hate debt. I hate how it makes me feel. Trapped.

When we pursued fertility and adoption choices, I was shocked to hear how much money we would need to come up with. This is a number that is on top of saving for retirement, saving for emergencies, saving for vacation, saving for a new car, and regular monthly bills. Having children seemed a dream that would never happen because of the money we'd have to come up with.

I was overwhelmed and felt hopeless that I'd ever be a mom.

Now, 9 years later, we have 3 children ages 8, 6, and 4 and we are debt free.

I'm here to tell you that you can #adoptdebtfree because we did it.

I put my knowledge of being an Accredited Financial Counselor and adopting/going through IVF together and created the Preparing Financially for Adoption Course. Inside of the course are tutorials on creating a financial foundation, developing a fundraiser, tracking expenses for your accountant, establishing a spending plan for your adoption, money saving tips, setting up a business for a side hustle, and other money tips. Check out the syllabus!
